The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau has long curated nature's creations. Running across the vast plateau, Hoh Xil and the Tanggula mountains were formed 50 million years ago when the Indian and Eurasian plates collided. The cradles of Chinese civilization – the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers – all originate here.
