Xiase Lake, located in the heart of Dongting Lake in China's Hunan Province, is an important wetland ecological protection area.
However, the lake once suffered from severe environmental degradation due to overfishing and lack of proper management.
Alarmed by the worsening ecological environment, the local government launched a wetland restoration campaign in 2018 that combined artificial and natural restoration methods to restore the lake's environment.
Now, Xiase lake has regained vitality and become a paradise for birds.
About 1,100 hectares of wetland have received ecological restoration.
